Jane, who years ago brought in her baby granddaughter for an infant shoot, recently called to schedule an update. Eva is around four now and just beautiful. It struck me as so thoughtful that Jane is documenting them together. I don’t have any professional images with any of my grandparents and would really value that now. It really reminded me of something I’ve always known, that professional portrait photography is transcendent. When you take the time to document not just what a person looks like but their personality and the connection they have with a dearly loved one, that lasts for decades and only becomes more valuable in time because its irreplaceable.
